I was on my way home from picking my kids up from school. I was driving from a more well to do area, I sense a lot of security and confidence when I’m around this area. As I continued on my journey I was beginning to hit some rough patches. On this particular day, on my way home, I saw a homeless man sitting on the pavement as I approached the highway. He got my attention as he sat, not begging for anything, but reading. I found this so intriguing. What could he be reading that would surpass him not begging for money or food, as most do in this area that are homeless. As I drove past him I kept my eyes fixed on him until I could see what he was reading. It completely stunned me when I saw it was a bible. I felt so cut to the heart.

Who is to say what material things you have here on earth, you have in heaven. Whether we have a little or a lot we can become so secure in our education, our homes, our cars, our employment, or our comfort. The thing about it was as far as I could see, this man had no home. But I wondered if he had a home in heaven. Furthermore, it is possible to have a home here on earth, but none in heaven.  I thought about our level of security in other things other than Yeshua, and it bothered me.  I thought about those who so easily profess they are believers in Yeshua, but really don’t have a relationship with him. How dare us be so arrogant in our things or verbal recognition of faith! How dare us be so judgmental to think we are approved because we are not begging for money or food. Are we begging for Yeshua? Are we really crying out to Him? Is our security in Him? Because if it really is then that would mean we would do the things He told us to do, that means we would seek Him with all our heart.

My cognition of the word “homeless” has changed. Now I wonder how many people are spiritually homeless here on earth.  And how many of us who have a home in heaven are sharing with the spiritually poor? We are really just camping here on earth for a short amount of time…so less home on earth and more of Yeshua!

Matthew 6:19-21 (NASB)

19 “Do not store up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy, and where thieves break in and steal. 20 But store up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys, and where thieves do not break in or steal; 21 for where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.
